Transplant technology keeps advancing us to that bleeding edge. When is death really death and when is it reversible? For the whole creature? For their organs? Ethically, that knife edge turns into a slippery slope. If we can ‘reanimate’ to create transplantable organs, when then do we pronounce ‘death’ to allow for those parts to be parted with? I will leave that conundrum to the ER docs having to deal with donor cycle riders.
