Med Twitter 2020: shout out to these early frontline heroes
They reported truths as early as January 2020, and continued until censored and blocked.
This Memorial Day I want to honor and give tribute to those Keyboard Warriors, who stood up against that waterfall of disinformation cascading down upon us in 2020. I owe them gratitude for saving my sanity.
Back then, I felt like Alice in Wonderland; such crazy stuff spewed forth from former professional friends and colleagues in DC, academia and Big Pharma. I kept shaking my head and telling myself, “no, none of this makes any sense.”
I had usually posted on LinkedIn where I had thousands of domestic and international connections, often being in the top 1% post for views. But when I posted, “face masks = smallpox blankets” I was promptly booted from the platform.
I had a Twitter account still open and active but was a newbie at it. Started out lurking … soon discovered the treasure trove that was #MedTwitter. Citizen scientists fiercely, courageously challenged the masks, the lockdowns, the nursing home deaths, the ventilator protocols, the banning of hydroxychloroquine, ivermectin, the pushing of remdesivir poison. They tore apart the PCR tests, the COVID case data, and sussed out real life, real time results for deaths. They immediately called out all the missing flu cases, and pointed to the database definitions changed to lump them all with COVID.
Nothing got past them. They saw it all, right away. And because they did, they were attacked, censored, shadowbanned and then booted from Twitter. Like me, many did migrate over to substack.com, but it lost the fervor and genius that arose from the rapid group think dynamics of #MedTwitter.
However today, I will try to point out a few of these amazing digital warriors to let them know how much we all appreciate their work and their fight to get it out to us all.

Remember, I am just sharing recall of my own personal experience. Each of you may have your own heroes to honor on this day. Feel free to tell us your stories in the comments.
And enjoy this holiday, celebrating FREEDOM!
I followed many of these people on Twitter. (Before I was locked out over a year ago.) I am not exaggerating when I say they helped save my sanity. My church closed for a full year. Then I was barred from entry due to masks. That lasted 1 week short of a second year. I was effectively alone for 2 years, on top of caring for my elderly/sick parents, one of whom recently died after a years long nightmare of dementia.
If not for these people, I don't think I would have survived. Again, I don't say that lightly. I have never been so alone in my life. I wish I could thank them all. For many, I just knew the screen names. They didn't know me at all. But I will always hold them close to my heart.

thankfully living in a relatively sane (free) state but still fired from my job/passion of 40 years as costume director of a major arts festival over my refusal to take the vaccine. would love to sue them. shocked at how the arts especially fell into lock step and acted as an enforcement arm of bad government public health policy. would have expected some rebellion. boyfriend retired from his theatrical job in nyc over the same issue. have many fewer friends now, trust no one (or very few).
